I’ve been spending the better part of the last month in the Capital Region of New York; Albany, Troy, and Schenectady. While I’ve never thought much of Albany from afar, I’ve found it to be a very charming and friendly town now that I’m here. Schenectady, however, has been my favorite area thus far. It’s small, old, and tough.

After a huge but delicious Chicken Antonio at Ferrari’s, I went downtown to snap this photo of the Proctors Theatre signage. It sits along a gorgeous little promenade - a nice place for dinner and a show.

This is the worst weather I can remember in Buffalo. Lake effect weather is nothing new for me, having lived in Rochester for the majority of my life. Yet there is something absolutely horrid about the Buffalo onslaught of snow, ice, sleet, and awfulness. It comes in a matter of moments. We’ve had 60 mph winds. Faye’s hometown has has a forecast of 5-11 inches of snow every day, all week. The daily news has been reporting backups on every major highway every morning, and there are pileups all over the road.

It’s like every car on the road has hit a banana peel in Mario Kart - you just hope that they’re not totally out of control when you get close.

Fret not, friends. There are only four months of this to go.

However, local Ski resorts have been celebrating opening week! I vow to make my splendid return to out-of-control skiing and bitching about how cold my feet are this month. Count on it.

Hello there all,

Avi’s extremely interesting and informative posts on this website have inspired me to create a Tumblr account of my own. As I’m moving to Buffalo (tomorrow), I’m sure that I will be encountering exciting and great things and I’d like to have some sort of documented history of the next phase of my life.
